KERRI BORDELON

Kerri is an intern ASUDC MSW-I at Clear Recovery of Cache Valley while obtaining her Advanced Substance Use Disorder Counseling Certification from Utah Valley University. Kerri is also working on her Master of Social Work in Mental Health and Substance Use from the University of Texas at Arlington. Kerri received her Bachelor of Science degree from Texas Woman’s University in 2021. She has been a case manager at Clear Recovery of Cache Valley for almost two years and is enjoying the transition into the counseling position.

Originally from Dallas, TX, Kerri has lived in beautiful Cache Valley since 2019. She has loved being part of such a wonderful, supportive team at Clear Recovery. Helping people in any way is a huge passion for her. In her free time, Kerri loves to spend time with her family, hiking, traveling and going to concerts.

Lauren Anderson

Lauren is a case manager at Clear Recovery of Cache Valley. She is originally from Heber City, Utah, and moved to Logan to attend Utah State University. In the spring of 2023, Lauren will graduate from USU with a bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies with minors in Mental Health Awareness & Advocacy and Art. She also will graduate with a certificate of proficiency in Conflict Management & Facilitation.

Lauren is passionate about teaching conflict resolution, mental health awareness, and emotional regulation. Clear Recovery allows her to teach and help facilitate growth & change. She loves coming to work every day to help people make positive changes in their lives!

In her free time, you will find her reading a good book, hanging out with friends, or spending time with family.

Amanda Painter

Amanda is a therapist for Clear Recovery. Amanda grew up in a military family, living in a variety of states across the country. She received her Bachelor of Social Work from Utah State University then her Master of Social Work from University of Washington. Amanda recently returned to Cache Valley, last fall, after her husband was honorably discharged from the US Army.

Amanda is a Certified Social Worker (CSW) through the State of Utah, allowing her to conduct therapy under supervision of the Clinical Director. Amanda has significant experienced working in the fields of mental health, substance abuse, child welfare, and adolescent intervention. Amanda is passionate about helping others discover their inner strength and becoming their best selves. Amanda loves working with those in recovery, watching their transformation and growth.

In her free time, Amanda loves to spend time with her family, play video games, craft, or go camping in the mountains.

Jonathan Ricks

Jonathan has been a nurse practitioner since 2017, which is when he moved to Cache Valley. His primary work is in emergency medicine, but has been working with Clear Recovery since 2019. He lives in the valley with his wife and four kids.

DANIELLE

Danielle has been a Case Manager since May 2022. She is from a little town outside Tacoma, WA. She moved to Cache Valley in 2018 to attend Utah State University. She graduated with her Bachelor’s in Psychology, including Minors in Leadership & Management, and Mental Health Advocacy & Awareness. She loves to teach and learn about mental health, mindfulness growth, relationships, and communication. Her goal is to continue her education in the field through SUB-C and Masters programs.
In her free time, she spends time with family and friends, enjoying the outdoors, cooking good meals, traveling, and watching as many movies possible.

DR. BRANT FONNESBECK

Here at Clear Recovery of Cache Valley, we are very lucky to call Dr. Brant Fonnesbeck one of our own. He is incredibly passionate about the work that he does here and dedicates his life to the health and well-being of others. When you meet him, you undoubtedly see and feel the love emulating from his soul.

His vast experience allows him to connect with our clients and know the best way to help them. His integrity and family-based values help guide him along every step of the way. If you are looking for a great doctor look no further, you will never find a better man for the job.

Jodi

Jodi graduated with her BSW from Weber State University in 1997 and after many years returned to school to get a masters in social work. She is currently in her second year of her of graduate studies at the University of Kentucky through their online program. She will graduate in December of 2023 with Dual Certificates of Study in Clinical Social Work and Substance Use Disorders. She did her foundational internship at Clear Recovery and loved it. She completed the certification for a Prime For Life Instructor in January 2023 and is excited to stay on at Clear Recover to teach the Prime for Life 420 course. When she is not doing her graduate studies, she enjoys time with family, hiking, working out, paddle boarding, and running.

Arissa

Arissa is a Master’s of Social Work Intern for Clear Recovery. Arissa was born and raised in Logan, Utah. She received her Bachelors of Psychology with a minor in Criminal Justice from Utah State University and is currently obtaining her Masters of Social Work from the University of Kentucky. Arissa has strong experience working with a variety of mental health disorders and nonprofit organizations. She is a volunteer International Coordinator on the board of Tabarak Children’s Home in Mombasa, Kenya and loves to travel and engage in volunteer opportunities. She enjoys exploring cultural differences and helping others in being their best selves.

Jennifer B

Jenni is a currently a therapist and enjoys getting to know others’ strengths, and she wants to learn and grow with those with whom she works. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in music (piano performance) and a master’s degree in psychology (school counseling), as well as receiving a certificate in school leadership/administration and clinical mental health counseling (ACMHC; in the near future). She loves learning, connecting with others, and being in the mountains. Jenni appreciates that every person is given many opportunities to develop and grow.

TERRY

Terry is a Certified Peer Support Specialist (CPSS) for Clear Recovery of Cache Valley and received his CPSS in 2021. He loves to work with clients and help them become the best people that they can be.

Terry is currently attending Utah State University working on his Bachelor’s degree in Social Work (BSW) and plans to continue his education following this and get his Masters’ degree in Social Work (MSW). He would like to work with clients who are healing from trauma and show them how to live a better life. Terry has been clean and sober for over 17 years and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in addiction recovery.

Terry loves spending time with his wife and grandkids. He enjoys music (both listening to and performing) and also loves hunting, volunteering, watching movies, and playing brain games.

JAY R. HYMAS

Jay is the CEO/ Owner of Clear Recovery. Jay grew up in Cache County Utah. Jay has life experience with overcoming Addiction he does his job with passion and purpose inspiring others to do their best and never give up. Jay has 6 kids and loves spending time with them. some of his favorite times are in the mountains snowmobiling, fishing, and Camping.

ADRIA

Adria is the Program Director at Clear Recovery of Cache Valley. She grew up in Cache County and has lived here for the majority of her life. Adria grew up with 7 siblings, is very family oriented, and enjoys spending time with loved ones. She is passionate about helping others and understanding about helping others and understanding how the brain works. Adria has worked in the mental health field for 7 years and loves experiencing and learning new things every day.

In her free time, you will find Adria reading, spending time with her dog, going to the movies, or playing video games.

Amanda

LAURAN HYMAS

Lauran is a certified yoga therapist and over the meditation and mindfulness program at Clear Recovery. She is passionate about teaching clients skills of mindfulness, breathwork, meditation, sound therapy and yoga. She believes recovery starts with a balance and connection of self through mind, body, spirit.

Lauran loves to cook and has a passion for overall health and wellness.

Lauran also has a passion for nature, in her free time you can find her in the mountains, maybe a natural hot spring or hiking to a remote place to be with the beautiful outdoors.

Cristine Price

Cristine Price Ph.D., CMHC, SUDC is the Clinical Director at Clear Recovery. She has thirty years of experience in the substance abuse and mental health fields. She believes in a holistic approach: addressing the mind, body, and spirit. She has certified in clinical modalities such as EMDR, Brainspotting, and Hypnotherapy plus integrates mindfulness and meditation. Cristine has a doctorate in Natural Medicine and has authored various self-help tools in nutrition, recovery, and emotional transformation. She is dedicated to measuring outcomes as well as soul-level healing.

LISA HENDERSON

Our wounds are often the openings into the best and most beautiful parts of us. -David Richo Working with people suffering from substance abuse disorder I get to experience this beauty and it’s a rewarding process.

I have a Bachelor of Science in Social Worker from Utah State University and a certificate in Substance Abuse Counseling from the University of Utah. I am also a Certified Peer Support Specialist, trained in Moral Reconation Therapy (MRT) and Prime for Life. I have a strong working knowledge of the 12-steps of Alcoholic Anonymous.

I have lived in Utah for the past 11 years and love the mountains, lakes and people. Being able to go camping, fishing and skiing, Utah is a wonderful place to be.

LEE WILLIAMS

The windmill is a universal symbol of life, serenity, resilience, self-sufficiency, and perseverance while harnessing the energy necessary to thrive in a sometimes harsh environment. I witness these same aspects in the lives of others that I get to work with each day.

I utilize a client centered and solution focused approach to obtain the best results. I’m passionate about addressing issues associated with various forms of addictions, dual diagnosis, depression, anxiety and trauma.

I have a Bachelor of Science in Sociology and a dual Master of Social Work and Master of Public Administration degrees. In addition to being a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) I’m also a Licensed Substance Use Disorder Counselor (SUDC) and am trained in EMDR trauma therapy and certified in Moral Reconation Therapy (MRT).

I’ve made Utah my home for over the past 14 years. My wife and I have found Cache County a great place to raise our 4 kids and enjoy all the beauty we’ve found in these surroundings.

ALCOHOLISM

Alcoholism is one of the most common and destructive problems that we see here at Clear Recovery. Alcohol is very common in our society, and for this reason it can often be difficult to escape. Alcoholism is not to be taken lightly, withdrawals from Alcohol can lead to seizures and even death. For this reason as well as many others, our utilization of Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) can be essential in recovery from Alcoholism.

HOW WE CAN HELP

We see an incredible amount of success here at Clear Recovery. It is common for us to see even the most seemingly impossible recoveries attained. Individuals who have lost everything, from family to housing, leave Clear Recovery with all these things recovered. Not only do these individuals recover all that they once lost, but they build lives that are better than they ever could have imagined.

METHAMPHETAMINE ADDICTION

Meth is a very stimulating drug that is typically seen as a white, bitter powder or a pill. Crystal meth has the appearance of glass fragments or shiny, bluish-white shards. It is very chemically similar to a commonly prescribed drug, amphetamine.

HOW METH HOOKS YOU

Methamphetamine is very commonly abused. It is a very potent and highly addictive substance. Meth has been and remains an extremely serious problem in the United States. Much of this is due to the over-prescription of its chemical cousins, Adderall, and Ritalin. These legal prescriptions act on the same receptors in the brain. Be wary, simply because you obtain a drug legally does not mean that it is safe. Studies in the 2012 National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH), showed that over 12 million individuals (Which is over 4.7 percent of the entire United States population) have experimented with Meth at least one time.

DANGERS OF METH

The consequences of using stimulants like methamphetamine are incredibly detrimental for the individual who is using it. It negatively affects people in many ways, including psychologically, medically, and socially. More specifically this drug can cause severe memory loss, unexpected aggression, psychotic episodes and behavior, cardiovascular system damage, not eating enough, and dental problems to the extent of losing all of your teeth.

OPIOID ADDICTION

Opioids are a classification of drugs that include the illegal drug heroin, and all other synthetic opioids. This includes fentanyl, and all pain relievers that are available legally with a prescription. Some common medications are oxycodone, hydrocodone, codeine, and morphine. It is important to make the connection that these legal medications are a more euphoric version of heroin that act on the exact same receptors in the brain. This can help individuals to rethink the way in which they take their legal medications. When people become dependent on their legal prescriptions and can no longer obtain them, they often turn to the cheaper and only option, Heroin.

HOW OPIOIDS HOOK YOU

All opioids are closely chemically related and interact with opioid receptors that are located in the brain. Opioid pain killers can be safe when taken for a short amount of time and only exactly as prescribed by a doctor. This is because they produce such an intense euphoria while causing pain relief, they are most often misused. Regular use consistently over time, even exactly as prescribed by your doctor will inevitably lead to a physical dependence. This can lead to addiction, overdose, and death.

Clients are placed in the appropriate level of care on intake and are referred to MAT if needed. Client’s may remain on MAT for maintenance as long as needed if they remain compliant with program expectations.

Our staff works to decrease risk on a daily basis

• Prescribers refer to DOPL regularly.
• Prescribers are part of the treatment team with compliance updates.
• Frequent pill counts reduce the risk of diversion, overuse, and abuse.
• Urine drug screens are sent to a lab for definitive testing.

KATIE BALL

Katie is a group facilitator at Clear Recovery. She is currently in the Masters of Social Work program at USU. COLBY MARTIN

Colby Martin, Physician Assistant, is a native of Utah who graduated from Utah State, then went on to complete the Red Rock’s Physician Assistant Program in Colorado while earning a Master of Medical Science Degree from Saint Francis University in Pennsylvania.

While working in community health he developed a special interest in Psychiatry and Addiction Medicine. He strives to be up to date with the most current evidence-based treatment for Addiction including not only medication but proper nutrition, exercise, and alternative therapies.

JOYCE LARSON

Hi, I am Joyce Larson and I am a therapist and Clinical Director at Clear Recovery of Cache Valley. I am pleased and proud to be associated with such a great agency and a super awesome team.

I was born and raised in Cache Valley and happy to call it home. Our family, including grandchildren, all live close to the area so we get together often. That is one of my greatest joys, my family. I also enjoy road trips with my husband and adventures in our Polaris Slingshot.

It also gives me great joy when witness the success of many clients here at Clear Recovery. They are truly amazing and I am thankful for my time here and for what I have learned from each of the them.

MELANIE RUST

Melanie is the Program Director at Clear Recovery. She has been working in the substance abuse treatment field since graduating with a social work degree from Utah State University in 2016.

Melanie loves working with people in the recovery process and believes in being a motivator towards change. Her favorite thing at Clear Recovery is working with amazing staff and being a part of family group.

When not at Clear Recovery, Melanie likes to spend time with family playing games and watching comedies.
